I have a Gigabyte GA-6BXDU dual-processor motherboard. With the BIOS setting MPS=1.1, scsi hangs but USB works. With the BIOS setting MPS=1.4, usb fails but scsi works. It is possibly just a coincidence, but it seems that scsi recovers when the bttv stuff is loaded. If anyone can tell me why this is happening, or a fix to get both scsi and usb working at the same time, I would be grateful. Here are (what I guess are) the relevant log extracts. I can provide more details of software versions if it would be helpful. -jonathan ============================================================================== BIOS setting: MPS = 1.1 bttv-0.7.something Nov 12 01:01:03 lovelace kernel: Linux version 2.2.16int7+usb3+i2c (root@lovelace) (gcc version 2.95.2 20000313 (Debian GNU/Linux)) #1 SMP Thu Jul 20 01:53:33 BST 2000 --------------------------------------------- Nov 12 01:03:45 lovelace kernel: hub.c: port 2 connection change Nov 12 01:03:46 lovelace kernel: hub.c: portstatus 101, change 1, 12 Mb/s Nov 12 01:03:46 lovelace kernel: hub.c: portstatus 103, change 0, 12 Mb/s Nov 12 01:03:46 lovelace kernel: usb.c: USB new device connect, assigned device number 2 Nov 12 01:03:46 lovelace kernel: usb.c: kmalloc IF ddb2c0e0, numif 1 Nov 12 01:03:46 lovelace kernel: usb.c: new device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 Nov 12 01:03:46 lovelace kernel: usb.c: USB device number 2 default language ID 0x409 Nov 12 01:03:46 lovelace kernel: Manufacturer: EPSON Nov 12 01:03:46 lovelace kernel: Product: Perfection1200 Nov 12 01:03:46 lovelace kernel: usb.c: usbscanner driver claimed interface ddb2c0e0 --------------------------------------------- Nov 12 01:04:03 lovelace kernel: (scsi0) <Adaptec AIC-7896/7 Ultra2 SCSI host adapter> found at PCI 0/12/0 Nov 12 01:04:03 lovelace kernel: (scsi0) Wide Channel A, SCSI ID=7, 32/255 SCBs Nov 12 01:04:03 lovelace kernel: (scsi0) Downloading sequencer code... 396 instructions downloaded Nov 12 01:04:03 lovelace kernel: enable_irq() unbalanced from e00d17e8 Nov 12 01:04:03 lovelace kernel: (scsi1) <Adaptec AIC-7896/7 Ultra2 SCSI host adapter> found at PCI 0/12/1 Nov 12 01:04:03 lovelace kernel: (scsi1) Wide Channel B, SCSI ID=7, 32/255 SCBs Nov 12 01:04:03 lovelace kernel: (scsi1) Downloading sequencer code... 396 instructions downloaded Nov 12 01:04:03 lovelace kernel: scsi0 : Adaptec AHA274x/284x/294x (EISA/VLB/PCI-Fast SCSI) 5.1.28/3.2.4 Nov 12 01:04:03 lovelace kernel: <Adaptec AIC-7896/7 Ultra2 SCSI host adapter> Nov 12 01:04:03 lovelace kernel: scsi1 : Adaptec AHA274x/284x/294x (EISA/VLB/PCI-Fast SCSI) 5.1.28/3.2.4 Nov 12 01:04:03 lovelace kernel: <Adaptec AIC-7896/7 Ultra2 SCSI host adapter> Nov 12 01:04:03 lovelace kernel: scsi : 2 hosts.
