Using the video4linux API for audio control has exactly the same effect, the mixer device is just a second interface to the volume/bass/treble settings to allow the usage of any random mixer utility. xawtv should have no problems to adjust the volume without tvmixer. > Is there anyone out there who's been using the tvmixer module with success ? /me, althrouth I just noticed that it doesn't work on 2.4.0-test7. It works fine on 2.2.15 patched with a half-year-old cvs checkout of the i2c code. Looks like I have to debug it...
