I use one  of those.  I am not very good with linux yet though.  The only thing I can tell you is that when I went from bttv 0.7 to 0.9 I had to put it in grab mode instead of overlay.
I also noticed it will not record video anymore, just locks.  
Dont know why.
Maybe someone else can shed some light on it.

Hi,

Has anybody been able to successfully capture video off a Hauppauge WinTV Go (model 190) PCI based NTSC board using xawtv with the signal being fed in through the RCA (yellow) input? I can't seem to get that working even after selecting Composite-1 or Composite-3 as the input type in the menu options. Tuner input seems to work just fine.
