Lirc-cvs can be used with the event device now too, but seems to be some struggle yet. Check the list archive some weeks back and also it's ongoing at the lirc-list. (come some keys through on 2.4.23?) Radio with my md9717 and FV3K works, but doesn't mute on exit. Try with console "radio" from xawtv. Following this thread http://www.riverside.org/archive/html/video4linux/2003-04/msg00056.html, even the change of the audio clock seems not to be necessary at the end. Hope for more autodetection seems to be lost, or can Shant provide additional information?
