hmm.. I just noticed I am using bttv 0.9.10 and grep found out this:

bttvp.h:#define BTTV_MAX 4

and the lastest 0.9.12 the same line is 

bttvp.h:#define BTTV_MAX 16


so I think no further questions for the time being :)
