We all probably share the same problem, which is firstly pointed by
massimomartinelli(at)nidektechnologies.it a few days ago.

Here is my story. I've tested two cards (K-world and Lifetech), both
detected as "bttv0: using: BT878( *** UNKNOWN/GENERIC **)". When I use VFL1,
bttv 0.7.107 and 2.4.22 both PAL and NTSC inputs are okay. However, when I
use VFL2, bttv 0.9.12 and 2.6.0-test8 there is a problem with PAL (just as
you have described) while NTSC still works well.

The best I can get from PAL is b/w picture when I set V4L2_STD_PAL_Nc for
VIDIOC_S_STD ioctl() in my custom application.

Of course, I have no clue how to solve the problem.
