That user claims that it worked with card=0. The Koutech 606 seemed to be working for some users with card=15, maybe you could try that, but I doubt it will help. One of the reasons you need the right card line in bttv is so that bttv knows which inputs are what, and whether they are S-Video or not, etc. May explain some of the weird behavior you are seeing. You should take a look in bttv-cards.c and see what kind of information there is for each card entry. Doing your own based on one of those may give best results.
