status of support for Pinnacle PCTV with MT2050(?)

Hi,

(Sorry for asking this kind of question, but this list seems
unsearchable by robots, and neither the full archive is downloadable in
one file).

I bought a Pinnacle PCTV tuner card recently, since I have read that is
a "bt8x8" based and therefore it is supported. It seems it is not. :-(

I tried to use it with 2.4.22 kernel, bttv card type 39, with the
tda9887 tuner module (see the kernele messages at the end).

The modules loaded just fine, however the logs states that its tuner is
"not a MT2032".
Scanning the channels with setting PAL, eastern europe (I am on the
Hungarian Chello cable system from UPC) runs without error messages,
however there is "no signal detected"
I have used the latest scantv and tvtime-scanner available in debian
support for unstable. There is indeed signal on the cable, since I am
watching the program right now with a TV.

As far as I was able to investigate the situation, the chips on the
cards are Conexant 878, and Phillips TDA9885TS. The actual TV tuner, I
guess, is enclosed in a sealed Faraday-cell on the card bearing a big
(?) Pinnacle logo. Searching the Web I have realized that this card
might very well have a new MT2050 tuner chip
(http://www.microtune.com/products/MT2050_Series.html)

Does anybody work on a driver for this tuner chip?

Thanks: Gabor
