Thanks! This really helped much! I have 5 PCI slots. In the two bottommost,
the image quality is completely crap. In the three topmost, it's stunningly
better. It's still not perfect, but I think it's possible to get now rather
good image with some (median?) filtering.

It's amazing that if the TV card is in one of the two bottommost slots, the
image gets into completely crap exactly when the hard disk light is on
(when I'm running dd if=/dev/zero of=zeros). The light blinks periodically
and the image quality follows that: when the light is off, the image is
perfect.

I guess the SCSI controller somehow ates all PCI bandwidth while writing.
