Has anyone ever run xawtv or any video grabber over VNC?

Putting aside why one would want to do this, I'd rather concentrate on
the technical issue involved.

Loading 'xawtv -nogl' gives me the following errors and a completely
black screen in xawtv:

Xlib: extension "XVideo" missing on display ":1.0",
Xlib: extension "XVideo" missing on display ":1.0",

Is it impossible to run it over VNC even over a LAN? I don't need
quality, just to be able to see the section that I want to capture to a
file. I suspect that VNC runs X with its own settings ( it didn't look
at my existing XF86Config nor ~/.xinitrc )

If anyone successfully ran a video grabber over another remote
graphical interface, I'm all ears.

The option you need is -remote :
xawtv -remote

How about reading the man pages before asking ? ;-)

Often it happens that I start writing a post, going through all the details, then the light bulb goes off in my head and I abort the post, finding the solution. This time around I wasn't near my computer (working) so you must endure this question. :P
