Video Capture: Here's what works

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

This is pretty much out of the box:

ATI TV Wonder VE
Red Hat 8.0
HP Vectra VE
256MB RAM
xawtv (part of the 8.0 distro)
http://ffmpeg.sourceforge.net

Use xawtv to find the channel you want to record, if using RF, or just plug
into the composite in. Shutdown xawtv.

Using ffmpeg will capture to .mpg or .jpg sequential files, among other
abilities. Quality isn't great, even with DVD input used for testing.

Remaining issues:

How to capture in 640x480. Looks like the bigphysicalarea bug is biting. I set
ffmpeg to capture 640x480, but the result looks like a smaller image has been
enlarged. But good enough for my current project.

Thanks to anyone who helped.
