ATI All-in-Wonder 128 Pro - RH8 boot hangs

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

The system boots to a black screen with a clock in the middle and
colored pixels on the 20 top lines. A this point it needs a hard
reset (power switch). The system will work without DRI ('Load
"dri"' line is removed from the /etc/X11/XF86Config file).

The /var/log/messages log stops when the r128 is being initialized.
The "Guide to debugging DRI installation" (gatos web site) suggested
to check for the mtrr, agpgart and r128 modules. All modules are
in the messages log and in the right order.

The /var/log/XFree86.log had one warning and one error message. The
warning message was about "determining panel dimensions". The error
message was because the monitor is not in the list. The settings
are correct. The other thing I noticed was the open to /dev/dri/card0
had three attempts before it was valid.

Any ideas what the source of the problem is or where I could find
information that would lead me to it?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Ed Kelby
