Firewire or not?

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi folks,

So I just searched the archives and get conflicting information. One post claims successful usage of a Sony PC9, firewire and v4l using the raw1392 and ohci1394 modules. Some other posts contend that v4l and firewire are incompatible since the latter uses compressed video? That doesn't seem to make sense to me since firewire is such a high bandwidth protocol.

Can anyone clarify? Seems a waste for v4l to not support firewire since it's such a popular standard for video cameras these days.

Thanks,

DT
