Hello Jack,

I recently had an interesting discussion with someone who claimed that
videodevX from Bill Dirks is the official v4l2 version...

how about questions?
> whats transpiring here that has not been in the news group?

Hmm, I don't know if I understand you correctly, but there hasn't been a conspiracy or something.

Fact is that v4l2 made it's way into the kernel. But it differs very much from the latest videodevX version. The new bttv-0.9.x, saa7134 and saa7146/dvb drivers are all based on this "new" v4l2.

So, I asked wheter Bill's site (which is still regarded as *the* v4l2 site, which I basically don't deny -- the docs are still very good) could be updated to reflect these changes.

Bill, what do you think about it? If Bill is "Out of business",

whats this 'out of business' thing???

Sorry for my broken english: With "out of business" I mean: "no time for this currently, got more important things to do, so somebody else should do it.".

I never wanted to shut down anything, simply change the site so it reflects the lasted developments.

CU
Michael.
