Hi,

I've just installed linux on a new system trying to get familar with it. I tried connecting my webcam (kensington model 67016) to it. Using the "xawtv -hwscan" command, it nicely lists the webcam. However if type just "xawtv" the LED on the camera goes on (and stays on until reboot), the window stays black and the console reports:

This is xawtv-3.74, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.18-14)
/dev/video0 [v4l]: no overlay support
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
ioctl: VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=7,size=160x120): Invalid argument
ioctl: VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=3,size=160x120): Invalid argument
v4l: timeout (got SIGALRM), hardware/driver problems?
v4l: timeout (got SIGALRM), hardware/driver problems?

Has anyone suggestions how to move on?

Peter
