AVerTV Stereo Settings

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

I have an AVerTV Stereo card myself and I am wondering what the
best setting is.

As of bttv 0.7.100, there are three profiles for Avermedia cards:
  card=6  - AVerMedia TVPhone
  card=13 - AVerMedia TVCapture 98
  card=41 - AVerMedia TVPhone 98

All three of them seems to work fine with video. However, with
audio, Card 13 and 41 only able to output the SAP channel (changing
audio mode doesn't help), and Card 6 seems to work best.

I am able to get audio as follows:
  MONO/LANG2: Left=normal, RIGHT=SAP
  STEREO:     SAP
  LANG1:      normal

However, there are two problems with it. Firstly, it's strange that
MONO and LANG2 outputs both channels at the same time. What annoys me
is that xawtv always outputs in this mode for a few seconds before
changing to LANG1. (I have "audio = lang1" in ~/.xawtv) Secondly,
I expect STEREO to be normal and LANG1 to be SAP, but it is the other
way around. (Currently, I couldn't get tvtimes to output the normal
channel since it doesn't support audio mode, yet.)

The following settings seems to get rid of the first problem:

alias char-major-89     i2c-dev
options i2c-core        i2c_debug=0
options i2c-algo-bit    bit_test=1

alias char-major-81     videodev
alias char-major-81-0   bttv
options bttv            card=6 gbuffers=8 audiomux=0x0e,0x04,0x08,0x04,0 gpiomask=0x0f
options tuner           debug=0 type=2

Does anyone have a better config that also get rid of the second problem?
i.e., switch STEREO and LANG1 so that STEREO outputs normal channel and
      LANG1 outputs SAP?

btw, this card has the same PCI subsystem ID as Card 13 (1461:0004).
