HELP...Moving to V4L2

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Can anyone out there tell me what the best way to move to V4L2 is? I
have seen various kernel patches and I am wondering if anyone out there
has a step-by-step recipe for patching the kernel for V4L2 capability.

I am also concerned about compatibility with older (V4L) drivers, such
as the one for the DC10+. Does V4L2 provide downward compatibility with
older drivers?

I am working with MPEG1 encoding with mp1e (zapping.sf.net) from a bttv
card. The author of mp1e says that for best A/V performance and sync,
to use V4L2, and I also use a DC10+ (MJPEG card) from time to time as
well.

I am running the following: RH7.2 with a custom 2.4.18 kernel from
kernel.org, PIII 850, 512MB RAM.

Thanks in advance,

Rett Walters
