RE: bttv Input Output Errors

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

No oopses or kernel crashes with this version of the driver (0.8.46) this
was a problem with previous versions (I have machines running a customized
0.8.33 version that need to be rebooted daily otherwise they will crash in a
number of different ways).

This problem only happens when I capture cc along with the video. My gut
tells me that it is probably not heat related because the problem can occur
with in a few seconds after starting the capture processes. I also get
similar SCERRs when I kill the capture processes.

I would be glad to help find this bug if you give me some pointers on where
to look, I have a test machine available.

modules.conf

NOTE: I have tried increasing the vbibufs to 32 and that had no noticable
effect.

Subject: bttv Input Output Errors

I am using bttv 0.8.46 on kernel 2.4.19 with the v4l2 and ac4 patches and 5
ATI TV Wonder cards. I am capturing mpeg 1 video at 1fps 50kbps bitrate with
an audio stream at 32kbs with a custom version of mp1e. I am also trying to
capture the closed caption text at the same time using the v4l2 streaming
interface. After less than 20 minutes of capture I get Input/Output (5)
errors when trying to dequeue a buffer, this error happens at the same time
on both the cc and mp1e capture programs. I also receive a lot of SCERRs in
the log file just prior to the Input/Output errors. Has anyone seen this
behavior before? Does anyone know what may cause these errors (the video
signal is perfect)? Are there any parameters that I can tweak to help this
condition?

Thanks,
Cory
