man, v4l has nothing to do with this. .. the only way to use v4l to
capture the desktop image is pointing out a camera to the monitor,
connect the camera to a frame grabber, and use something like motion
project to inform you the changes. ... but it is such a stupid way to do
almost whatever you want to.
