I have 2 bttv cards and have tried to use btaudio, to no avail.
I hacked it to support adding multiple /dev/dsp entries and multiple
/dev/mixer entries, 1 set per card, but all I get out of btaudio is
nothing on digital, and clicks on analog.

("That's a very interesting sound", my wife always comments when I test it)

I have used aumix to set the mixer on the btaudio devices. I seem to
recall I got some crappy recording when I had only 1 card (the AverMedia).
I might have to hack btaudio to skip the first card detected on the PCI
bus (the Pinnacle PCTV) and try to setup btaudio only for the second card
to re-verify that I at least get SOMETHING from the btaudio for the AverMedia.
