Newbie question: How do I get my WinTV/GO-card running?

Hello,

realising that this list get enough traffic without being flooded with
stupid questions, I now anyway finally turn to you for some advice: How do
I get my WinTV/GO-card running?!

My system: Athlon 1.2 on an ASUS board, running linux 2.4.19 with redhat
7.2 (upgraded though).

My TV tuner: Well... Hauppage WinTV/GO, that's pretty much as much as I
know, where can I look to tell you more?

I seem to have done all the basic procedure to have the card working -
grounded the computer as not to toast it as the previous card, installed
it in a free PCI slot (one where it seems not to IRQ-collide with the
Promise IDE-controller), compiled in V4L-support etc. in the kernel,
downloaded and compiled bttv (as I've been hinted should work with my
WinTV card).

xawtv of course says "v4l: open /dev/video0: Enheten finns inte
no video grabber device available" - modprobe bttv just say "init_module:
No such device".

These messages aren't very informative and I honestly don't know where to
look for further ideas. Ok, IRQ conflicts possibly, but I've tried
fiddling with the PCI settings in BIOS (should it matter that the card
sits in slot 4, as slot 4/5 are treated as one by BIOS?)...

Hmmm... weird, /proc/interrupts don't mention the WinTV, though /proc/pci
says (full file attached):

  Bus 0, device 9, function 0:
Multimedia video controller: PCI device 14f1:8800 (Conexant) (rev 3).
      IRQ 5.
      Master Capable. Latency=32. Min Gnt=20.Max Lat=55.
      Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xd5000000 [0xd5ffffff].
  Bus 0, device 9, function 1:
Multimedia controller: PCI device 14f1:8811 (Conexant) (rev 3).
      IRQ 5.
      Master Capable. Latency=32. Min Gnt=4.Max Lat=255.
      Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xd4000000 [0xd4ffffff].

IRQ 5, that's where usb-uhci, usb-uhci sits according to
/proc/interrupts... can they share?

Ok, I'll fiddle some more with it, but I would be very happy for some
guidance here since this area is quite dark to me.

Thanks.

Best regards
Carl-Johan Sveningsson
