the best one that i know of is a win32 version called "tmpgenc" and the
package name is "TMPGEnc-2.01.30.116*.zip".

the author has no plans for a linux version (although there was talk of
one)...so it's windows only.  it handles dual cpu also i think...very
nice.  the big thing is you have to have your video files on a fat32
filesystem in which your limited to the 2GB file size limitation.

if anybody has any other ideas, i'll also definitely take note and
research those options.
