Like? How can I tell if I am a corner case or v4lctl is just broken?

xawtv on my system is not seeing the v4l2 knobs and controls again in
the 'o' menu. My currently loaded (v4l2) modules are:

Module Size Used by Tainted: GF
v4l_compat 8280 0 (autoclean) (unused)
tuner 4804 1 (autoclean)
msp3400 14000 1 (autoclean)
bttv2 96064 0 (autoclean)
videodevX 14624 2 (autoclean) [v4l_compat bttv2]
i2c-algo-bit 7372 1 (autoclean) [bttv2]

$ xawtv -hwscan
This is xawtv-3.64, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.13-11mdk)
looking for available devices
port 46-46 [ -xvport 46 ]
    type : Xvideo, video overlay
    name : video4linux

/dev/v4l/video0: OK [ -device /dev/v4l/video0 ]
    type : v4l2
    name : Bttv2(0) - Video
    flags: overlay capture tuner

Any ideas why the extra knobs are not coming up?
