Now this would be an interesting development.  I have thought several
times about whether the sampling rate was a little off.  I do recall
that the rate was described as ~32000 Hz.  The ~ being the operative
operator here.

I will try 31400 and see how that goes.  I wonder if that explains the
issue I have with caps done with mp1e and WMP pausing the picture
every 5-10 seconds so that audio drift can be adjusted.

I will play with the sampling rate and see.
