installin Linux on my Solo9500 laptop

I'm trying to run a version of Linux7.1 on my Solo9500 laptop. It's been
a real pain in the..... to get startx running. For some reason it's not
working
properly with my GeForce Go video card, after configuring my XF86Config
file, it
brings up a halting colorful screen. Can anyone help.
