Pinnacle Studio PCTV Rave :: color

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

hi list !

being a newbie i frankly post following:
i have a Studio PCTV Rave and am running debian/gnu (2.4.6 i think, sid)
modconfing the bttv-modules works, although i get error-messages,
because the "tuner"-module seems to be reinserted.

something like:
...
Inserting module tuner.o
This module already seems to be loaded
bttv: inserting module failed!
...
(i cannot remember the exact error-message)

however, the module is inserted (despite of the error-message)
the bttv-chip is detected , but the card not : BTTV848(***UNKNOWN***)

i read the bttv-howto (which is quite old), and there was no entry for
the "pinnacle studio pctv rage", so i choose miro or miroPCTV or
autodetect.
(reading very old mails on this list, i found out that my card would be
"card=39", but being not at home, i had no time to check this)

with xawtv i get:
TV: coloured snow, since i have no antenna-cable plucked in, since all
my cables do not fit into the jack (on the antenna-side, not on the
card-side); however, i do not care to watch tv
SVHS/Composite: the device works, but only B/W. there is little colour
information (i notice, when i turn the xawtv-colour-adjust to zero), but
i think this is only noise.
audio: i don't know, but i don't care (having not connected the
line-out)

( maybe you noticed, i need the card only for video-in... )

b/w-pictures are not what i want.
i have found in the list-archives, that somebody had similar problems
(but maybe without coloured snow) and solved this by just inserting the
line "color=1" into the .xawtvrc
Since i will use other programs to capture (pd/gem), i do not think,
that this will help me.

i have a geforce256-gfxcard, but no drivers installed (i will have to
get my box to a fast internet connection soon...).
i do not think, that this might cause the problems, since i have
coloured snow...

any suggestions...?
