That partially depends on your kernel, your glibc, and what file format you are capturing to.  AFAIK, 2GB is the limit to any AVI format video.  Anything larger than that should be captured to MOV (Quicktime).

If you have a 2.4-series kernel, and your glibc is compiled against those kernel headers, file sizes increase exponentially, but I can't recall the number.  Again, this is a moot point so long as you are capturing an AVI format file.
