Here's a patch against 2.4.4 that integrates those files into the
kernel.

It's just a starting point. I only added Gerd's files (practically)
unmodified, and edited the Makefile and configuration. The configuration
includes selections for the skeleton.c driver and v4l1-compat layer. I
only know it compiles, I haven't tried it.

Next, I want to remove the my_select() code from the compat module.

Then it's ready to add real V4L2 drivers.
