A much improved 2nd beta release of the mjpeg tools package with lots of new goodies is now available in tarball format. http://download.sourceforge.net/mjpeg/mjpegtools-1.3b2.tar.gz mjpeg tools" is the descendant of Rainer Johanni's "lavtools" package. It provides: - Video capture using MJPEG capture hardware into .avi, quicktime and movtar formats. - Video playback and basic editting support for the same formats. - Compression to MPEG audio and video from the same formats. The list of improvements includes: - Software only MJPEG playback, and "movtar" support - Faster and better MPEG-1 encoding with support for creating VCD compatible streams - Support for variable bit-rate MPEG-1 and MPEG-2. - Support for MPEG-2 encoding.
