Thanks for the pointers Gerd. I looked at AUDC_SET_INPUT in msp3400.c and
see it being called sometimes (sometimes not because of MUTE being set in
bttv-driver.c so it is not called) to switch to AUDIO_EXTERN. But that
does not seem to do it, even when it _is_ called. So I played substitute
and tried IN1-4 in scarts array 0 and IN1 in array 1. All these within the
msp_command fnx when AUDIO_EXTERN was called. Nothing would stop the TV
channel from being transmitted :(.

So would this suggest it is possibly setup as your second thought above?
That it may connect the audio mux to some of the GPIO pins of the
bt848/878 chip? If so, where would you suggest I be looking for that? Or
is it even possible in the current drivers?
