[V4L] ATI TV Wonder - Sound from non-TV interfaces

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi Folks,

I have an ATI-TV Wonder card that works fine for TV using the following
in /etc/modules.conf:

pre-install bttv modprobe -k msp3400; modprobe -k tuner
options bttv radio=0 card=0
options tuner type=2
options msp3400
etc...

If I use card=10 I get picture but no sound, so the auto detection
appears more accurate.

My problem is that when I switch to Composite1 using xawtv, or v4lctl,
realproducer, etc... I am not geting any sound from the external jack,
but instead remain getting sound from the last TV channel I was
watching.

I have breifly read Alan's V4L 1 specs and sparcely read over the
bttv-driver.c and msp3400.c files from 0.7.50. I am only guessing that
the msp needs to know to switch to a different input? But how is that
signalled?

I read the thread from last month's posting that suggested a similar
ATI 'no-sound-from-camera' problem. Is this a known deficiency? Or am I
just not setting it up correctly? My AVer seems to work fine.

If it needs to be added, what is the call that should be added to msp
from the bttv-driver?

I have tested it on stock RedHat 7.0, Mandrake 7.2, 2.2.18pre2x, and
probably others :). Always the same result.

Thanks for any suggestions or pointers,
JES
