[V4L] xawtv, video capture, sound

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Greetings.

After some problems with RedHat 7 beta and xawtv
(basically requiring a re-install of the 3dfx X
drivers from 3dfx, not the RH 7 ones), I got my
xawtv working again on my desktop (PIII/600,
128M, 3DFX, ATI TV).

However, I still have a problem. When recording
from line in on my ATI video card (e.g., a camera),
I don't have any sound in the recordings. When
recording from TV, I do have sound.

The camera video and mic are connected to the back
of the card. When video is selected with xawtv,
I can hear the audio (and if too loud, feedback).

The audio is on line1 of my SB PCI 128. The
file .xawtv includes

mixer = line1

If I don't include this line, no audio works.

Summary:
1) watching TV or video works fine (audio+video)
2) recording TV works fine (audio+video MPEG/AVI)
3) recording line in (composite) gets video only

Note, I have the latest xawtv. Prior versions
did not adequately record mpeg, however it seems
to work quite well now!

Cheers,
